Emma Bo Kyoung P. completed her Master of Music degree at Mannes School of Music and currently she is starting PDPL (Professional Diploma) under the guidance of Daniel Panner at Mannes School of Music in Manhattan. She is currently playing with New York chamber player! Emma was a violist as an associate principal violist with Lafayette Symphony Orchestra in Indiana and when she was studying for a master’s degree, she worked as a substitute violist with Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra in New York. Additionally, Emma performed with the Seoul Concert Philharmonic Orchestra, Pyeongtaek Philharmonic Orchestra and Seoul Concert Chamber Orchestra for 4 years before moving to the US.
While studying for her Bachelor’s in Music (viola) degree in South Korea, she was invited to and performed as the principal violist at Tchaikovsky Hall in Russia in 2009. She was nominated as a Young Rising Star by the Music Education News in Korea. Bo Kyoung has also performed improvisation with the National Dance Company of Korea at Seongnam Art Center. She continues to actively perform with numerous symphony orchestras, operas, and dance teams.
Emma has 14 years of teaching experience of violin, viola, and piano for students of all ages and levels. She is passionate about teaching and helping students develop and nurturing their art, and is an advocate for performing arts education. She has worked as a music conductor at an international school in South Korea and is currently finishing a pedagogy (teaching) at Mannes. Emma teaches students the best education by linking Asian education methods with everything she studied and experienced in New York. Many of her students were elected to youth Orchestras, auditions, and competitions!
