Grant is an award-winning jazz pianist and educator. Since receiving his Bachelor of Music degree at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Grant has held teaching positions around the country and abroad.
Grant has shared the stage with Grammy® award-winning artists Esperanza Spalding, Eddie Gomez, and Terri Lyne Carrington, as well as luminaries Simon Phillips, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Valerie Simpson. After releasing his second studio album “Numinous,” Grant moved to Japan for nearly three years where he taught at an international music school and performed often in the vibrant Tokyo music scene. Upon returning to the U.S., he was hired as the musical director and rehearsal pianist for the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Tap Program. Currently, Grant lives in New York City, where he remains active creating music and teaching throughout the city and online.
As a teacher with years of experience, Grant aims to provide a thorough understanding of piano technique, music theory, ear training, and sight reading, while constantly cultivating students’ individual passion and excitement about music. He maintains an upbeat, exuberant attitude coupled with patience and understanding acquired from working with students of all ages. Grant has established a method and curriculum for teaching the piano and is able to adapt to a variety of interests and styles depending on the student's personality.
