Hector is a professional guitar player and composer specializing in rock guitar, though his versatility extends to a variety of musical styles. From a young age, Hector developed a deep passion for writing and performing music as a powerful means of self-expression and connection with others.

Hector began his formal training in electric guitar and later pursued classical guitar studies at the University of Costa Rica. He then moved to New York City to further his education in music composition at The City College of New York. Since graduating, Hector has performed with numerous ensembles, and in 2013, he joined the rock band The Blackfires, with whom he has toured extensively.
​
One of the highlights of Hector's career came in 2014 when The Blackfires opened for Aerosmith at Moscow's Olimpiyskiy Stadium. In 2019, they returned to Moscow, opening for Bon Jovi at Luzhniki Stadium. They’ve also performed alongside major acts such as Skid Row, Europe, and California Breed (featuring Glenn Hughes and Jason Bonham) at iconic NYC venues like Gramercy Theater and Irving Plaza. Additionally, The Blackfires have taken the stage at music festivals across the U.S., sharing lineups with headliners like Linkin Park, Rob Zombie, Weezer, and Slipknot.

With The Blackfires, Hector has recorded two EPs and one full-length album. The band is currently finalizing their second album, set for release in the near future.

In addition to his performing career, Hector brings over 15 years of teaching experience to his students. His approach focuses on making the learning process enjoyable, ensuring that students build confidence and achieve their goals every step of the way. Known for his patience and encouragement, Hector is committed to helping students connect with the music they love and guiding them toward their personal musical milestones.
