Miranda is a trumpet player, composer-improviser, and educator originally from Tucson, AZ. A graduate of the dual degree program between the New England Conservatory and Harvard University, Miranda was named a Next Jazz Legacy SemiFinalist in 2023, has performed internationally at venues including Roulette (NYC), Jamboree (Barcelona), and the Nash (Phoenix, AZ), and has studied with musicians in various facets of the music scene including Kris Davis, Jason Palmer, Vijay Iyer, Dominique Eade and Stratis Minakakis.
Miranda is deeply invested in building supportive and bold spaces for music-making and lasting connections to others through creative practice. Miranda has recently performed with Naomi Nakanishi at M3’s 2024 Festival at Roulette and at Dizzy’s Club as part of a performance curated by Alexa Tarantino and Cecile McLorin Salvant. She performs her original compositions with multiple projects, including her quartet teeter, and in November 2024 she released a debut album on Tidebloom Records as a member of ETM, an ensemble featuring double trumpets, voice, bass and drums.
A dedicated educator, Miranda has experience teaching and mentoring students with varied ages and musical backgrounds. She has received multiple grants to design a guide for educators centering Women in the story of Jazz + Creative Music, and curated two workshop series for high schoolers.
As a private instructor, Miranda builds lessons and practice routines with playful exploration, adapting to the musical interests and inclinations of each student she works with. She strongly believes in the creative and technical capacity of her students, and sees lessons as a space for unconditional support and encouragement, building a lasting love of music.
