New York-based Classical pianist Sebastian K. is an acclaimed soloist, ensemblist, and instructor.
In performance and competition settings, he has appeared in the Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall, Sol Joseph Recital Hall, and Steinway Gallery in San Francisco; the Trianon Theatre in San Jose; and the DiMenna Center, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Riverside Theatre, and Steinway Hall in New York. Though his expertise is in classical music, Sebastian has performed in multiple contemporary ensembles, including as a guest pianist in the Fifth House Ensemble's PlayStation JourneyLIVE experience and for Twentieth Century Fox Productions, on the red carpet premiere ofThe Peanuts Movie.
Sebastian trained at the San Francisco Conservatory and New York University (NYU), where he earned his college's top music prize and now serves on the adjunct piano faculty. His principal teacher in San Francisco was Corey McVicar, and in New York he studied with Jeffrey Swann, Marilyn Nonken, and Louis Karchin.
As a teacher, Sebastian's goal is to motivate students to be fearless—to embrace "failing forward" with humor and grace! He's been there before, many times, and never regrets it.
